Thanksgiving Trip up the Coast of California: Day 1

We had so much fun on our Thanksgiving vacation up the central coast of California. We left on Wednesday morning with no traffic. Our first stop was the Ventura mall. We ate at Jersey Mike Subs for lunch. Jersey Mike Sub is basically a Subway but better. This mall overlooks the the Pacific Ocean.

After we had eaten our fill, we headed back onto the freeway. Next, we went to see Mom’s old church and apartment in Ventura. We discovered a grassy park so we decided to play football and frisbee there. There were real poinsettias trees blooming. The park had great views of the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands.

Next, we decided to go to the Santa Barbra Misson. We took a wrong turn and found ourselves in a playground.

We played there for a while climbing the trees and huge boulders. We also saw a gopher popping out of his hole and eating. The park was so fun!!

After the park, we finally made it to the Santa Barbra Mission. We saw the doors to the place they had mass. The Mission was very pretty.

We hit the freeway for a while.

Our next stop was Solvang. The village was settled more than a century ago by Danish immigrants.  The first thing we did there was eat danishes. I selected some type of mocha cake.

The treats were very tasty.

It was super good but very rich. We explored the little town and went window shopping.

There was even a place called “Kate’s Yogurt”!!

Solvang was super fun and ,if you ever go up the coast, you must go there. Overall, I think day 1 was great.

What is Thanksgiving?

First, the Pilgrims land in Plymouth. They landed in mid-November in 1620. The feast was a year after in 1621. The Pilgrims and Wopanogs had a harvest festival – “the first Thanksgiving”.  They had a feast of many foods we have on Thanksgiving. The pilgrims thanked God for all that he had given them.

My 9th Birthday Party

I had super fun at my 9th birthday party on the beach. While we were waiting for the guests to arrive, my brother, sister, dad and I played frisbees and football. After about 35 minutes, people started to arrive.

The streak in the water is Catalina island.

Once almost everyone had arrived, we started to open presents.

I received 2 Nerf guns, an art kit, and 3 coloring books, a dress, and a shirt, a million cards, an ant farm, a flower design kit, $50, and lip balm. After we opened the presents, we ate cupcakes. There were 24 vanilla cupcakes with blue frosting, 24 chocolate cupcakes with green frosting and 6 red velvet cupcakes with white frosting.

I am reading one of my birthday cards.

A little while after the cupcakes, we went down to the beach. All of us ran deep into the water and kept on falling over.

My knee got hit by a rock. So, I went back up to the lawn to eat some cupcakes and chips. After a while, everybody came up so we played some more. We finished up the food, and some of the families started to go.

We had a great time, and I will probably have my birthday party there next year.
