The corn snake is found all over North America and are very popular pet snakes. They live about six to eight years in the wild but can live about twenty-three years in captivity. Corn snakes are not venomous and are my favorite type of snake!!  Corn snakes can grow up to six feet (182 centimeters)!

Diet

Like all snakes, corn snakes are carnivorous.  They eat mice, small lizards, and frogs. Also, they may climb trees to eat unguarded bird eggs.

Reproduction

Corn snakes usually breed shortly after winter. They lay twelve to twenty-four eggs. It takes about ten weeks until the baby snakes come out. The young snakes use a scale called an egg tooth to slit the egg open. When they hatch, they are about five inches (SO CUTE!!!).

Pets

Corn snakes are great pets because they do not get big. Also, they are very tame so people love them! Another reason to get them as pets is that they are rated in the top 5 best snake pets.  Lastly, all you have to feed them are mice and water.

As you can see, corn snakes are very fascinating.
